Muziris Heritage TourTour
Step back in time and discover the legendary Muziris Heritage Region, one of India's most fascinating historical and cultural destinations. Once a thriving international port that connected Kerala with the Roman Empire, Arabia, China, and the Mediterranean world, Muziris flourished for more than 2,000 years as a center of trade, culture, and religious harmony.
Today, the Muziris Heritage Project preserves this remarkable legacy through a collection of restored monuments, museums, churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, traditional homes, and archaeological sites spread across the historic towns of North Paravur, Kodungallur, Chendamangalam, Pattanam, and surrounding villages.
Sea Mount Travels invites you to explore this extraordinary heritage trail through comfortable private tours, guided sightseeing, and customized cultural experiences.
Muziris was one of the world's most important ancient seaports. Merchants from Rome, Greece, Egypt, Arabia, Persia, and China arrived here in search of Kerala's famous black pepper, spices, ivory, pearls, silk, and precious stones.
Although floods in the 14th century changed the course of the Periyar River and eventually buried the ancient port, its remarkable history continues to be revealed through archaeological discoveries and heritage conservation projects.
Believed by many researchers to be the location of the ancient Port of Muziris, Pattanam has revealed Roman amphorae, ancient coins, pottery, beads, brick structures, and evidence of one of the world's earliest international trading centers.
